This project was the product of some powerful reminiscence sessions that were carried out as part of the Journey of a Lifetime festival, which celebrated the life experiences of ethnic minority elders who came to London from many lands.
In the Lewisham area of London, where the festival was held, a significant group is made up of the Caribbean elders who came to work in England in the 1950s and 1960s. A piece of theatre was created with local A Level students from Christ The King 6th Form College and members of a local Caribbean Elders group (Vista Reminiscence Group); the show was based around the experiences the older people described. Young and old worked together and separately on creating this show and performed together at the festival and in other local Caribbean venues.
