Work in Progress (1993) was an early show by the Good Companions based on their memories of starting work. Most remembered unglamorous jobs as typists or general assistants in small dark offices, factory and shop work, and work in domestic service. They also recalled social life with colleagues, early romance and their dreams for the future. The stories and the script that was made from them are often humorous and always truthful. The show toured in the UK and also played in Denmark at a conference of the European Reminiscence Network in Copenhagen. A small book collected the stories on which the show was based.
