Women at work is a recollection of World War II by the women who were involved.

Dorothy Barton narrates her experience in the Land Army, Lil Murrell talks abou her work in a box factory and Margaret Kippin tells us how she drew telephone lines and worked in a factory.

Ellen Clark talks about her work in a munitions factory; Phylis Myers worked in a farm, where she received Queen Mary’s visit; Flo Batley was an evacuated mum; and Laura Murphy talks about being pregnant and giving birth during the war.

Edie McHardie worked at a bombing station: Margaret Phair was an auxiliary nurse and Kit O’Connell worked in the Land Army milking cows.
